Keeping a food diary is essential to successfully execute the base functional diet and identify any possible intolerances. Be diligent and honest in your diary and the process of finding your best foods will be much smoother. You can use a notebook or app to record what you eat throughout the day, but whatever system you choose, take the time to create a full picture of what’s going on. I like my clients to keep the chronology of the day intact so that the correlation is clear between foods, exercise, symptoms, and other factors. The diary template that follows is similar to the one I use.
