Press-Outs are one of Sheila Taormina’s favorite strength drills. Press-Outs build the upper body, shoulder, and upper back muscle strength required for the high-elbow underwater stroke. You can think of them like push-ups for swimmers.
This video below shows David Morgan demonstrating a swimming drill that incorporates press-outs. Don’t confuse this modified drill with the standard press-out drill, which swimmers do standing in the water near the side of the pool.
