All customers, except EU citizens, are added to our e-mail newsletter list when they place an order. It’s easy to unsubscribe or update your interests at any time by clicking the footer of any e-mail you receive from our MailChimp e-mail newsletter list. EU citizens must opt-in by checking the e-mail newsletter box during checkout.
Books preordered from VeloPress.com often arrive before they are available anywhere else. Customers who preorder a book will be charged for the book when they place their order. Books for which we are accepting preorders will include a red text note on the book’s page that shows the timeframe during which we believe the book will begin shipping. The actual shipping date may change due to weather, freight delays, warehousing issues, etc. If a book’s shipping date changes substantially, VeloPress will e-mail customers who preordered the book to give them an opportunity to cancel their order for a refund.
Order Cancellation, Refunds, Coupons, Sales, and Special Offers
VeloPress reserves the right to cancel orders, coupons, sales, and special offers in exchange for a refund at any time, for any reason, and without prior notice. We will notify customers as soon as possible to explain the reason for cancellation and to notify them about their refund. (We almost never cancel orders unless the customer has requested it.)
VeloPress is careful to remove products from sale when inventory is low, yet it is possible that our website may outsell current inventory. VeloPress reserves the right to cancel orders for refunds at any time without prior notice. If we must cancel your order, we will notify you as soon as possible to let you know. We will process the refund to the credit card used to place your order within 7 business days of cancelling your order.
Coupon code “VPFIRST” is valid only for a customer’s first order from velopress.com.
Magazine Single-Issue Sales
VeloPress does not offer refunds to specialty retailers (bike shops, etc.) for unsold issues of magazines purchased through velopress.com. For magazine subscription service for your shop, please contact Heather Arnold, Circulation Manager, at Pocket Outdoor Media through firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Press’s Porch Piracy Policy and Protocol
Yarrr, have ye been boarded by Porch Pirates? The struggle is real! Fortunately, only a few orders per year go missing. VeloPress is not responsible for orders that are lost, stolen, or which go missing for any reason. If we can provide a tracking number for your order and show a delivery confirmation, VeloPress does not accept any responsibility for orders that are not received. We are happy to assist with insurance claims for orders delivered by U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail and UPS. That said: we tend to be sympathetic people. If you can tell us a convincing story about why we should help replace your lost order, we will see how we can help (Entertaining and outlandish stories often earn more sympathy. Rude or impolite requests may fall on our cannon-deafened ears.) Just reply to your order confirmation or email your yarn to us here.
UPDATE 2020: We have temporarily suspended international orders after getting many complaints from our international customers that shipping costs were too high and the shipping times too long. We hope to find a better, faster, and cheaper way to ship internationally soon. When we do, we’ll reopen our store to international orders. In the meantime, please visit any of your favorite local online book retailers. Since VeloPress is internationally distributed, you should be able to find our books wherever books are sold in your country.
Exchanges and Returns for Refund
Our staff of seven runners, cyclists, triathletes, and swimmers works hard to produce the best books for endurance athletes so we hope you are satisfied with the books you purchase from us. If you must return a book, VeloPress will accept returns for refund under these conditions:
- You bought the book you want to return from VeloPress.com. We cannot refund purchases from other retailers. Please check the customer service policies of the retailer who sold you your book to learn if they will offer you a refund.
- Within 30 days of placing your order, you must email email@example.com to let us know you’d like to make a return.
- Items sold at events or sold from VeloPress.com below the suggested retail price may not be returnable. Please email us to ask.
- We must receive your returned book in new, resellable condition. We must decline to refund or exchange books that show visible wear and tear including but not limited to bent covers, discoloration, fading, creased spines, turned down pages, writing, scuffs, etc. Pack and ship your books carefully or we may return them to you and decline a refund.
- VeloPress is not responsible for returned books lost in shipment or mailed with inadequate postage.
To return your purchase for a refund, print out your order confirmation, mark it either “Return for Refund” or “Exchange” and send it to:

Returns for refund will be reimbursed to your non-expired credit card within 14 days of our acceptance of your returned purchase.
All exchanges will be mailed to you via U.S. Postal Service Media Mail to the “Ship to” address on your order confirmation. Exchanges may take up to 14 days.
VeloPress will exchange physically defective books, but we do not offer refunds for defective books purchased from other retailers. Please check the customer service policies of the retailer who sold you your book to see if you are eligible to receive a refund for defective books. We do not consider minor typos to make a book defective and we will post downloadable corrected pages when we deem it necessary. We very rarely exchange defective copies of superseded editions, but you may email us to ask.
We’re endurance athletes just like you, so we know all about wear and tear. Some of our books get used pretty hard and we don’t consider normal wear and tear to indicate a defective book. Examples of normal wear and tear include cosmetic damage, annotations, discoloration, fading, torn pages, split spines, etc. The expected lifespan of a waterproof or sweatproof book is one year from date of purchase because of exposure to sun, water, and chlorine.
If you have recently purchased a defective VeloPress book and would like to exchange it, please email us to describe the problem. We will often ask you to provide a digital photo that shows the problem so we may avoid it in the future. If we agree your book is defective, we will provide instructions to arrange an exchange. Exchanges may take up to 14 days.
